현재 홍성군에는 영유아, 아동, 청소년 등 아이들을 위한 시설이 각각 독립적으로 있는 상황이며 , 내포신도시에는 아이들을 위한 마땅한 시설도 없는 상태다.
홍성 어울림센터는 이러한 어려움을 해소하고자 추진하게 됐다.개별복지 성향보다는 가족중심의 복지로서 아이가 둘 있는 집안에 청소년과 아동이 있으면 서로 다른 기관에 보내야 하는
어려운 상황을 다양한 공간에서 놀이와 독서 ,시청각 활동들을 통하여 교육적 문제와 가정의 문제까지 해소시키고 온 가족이 한데 모여 서로 소통할 수 있는 공간이 될것으로 기대한다.
